Being a wholesale bakery, our kitchen is mainly brimming with production and packaging of shortbread that we distribute around Central Virginia; however, we do have a bakery counter with sweet and savory bakes for walk-in customers to enjoy. Furthermore, while our eatery is not a restaurant, we do offer a light sandwich menu intended for fast-dining or take-out style lunches. We make everything from the chicken salad to the focaccia, the quiche crust to the pub cheese, and the cookie to the muffin all “in-house”, excluding the croissant dough and bavarian pretzel. We provide limited cafe seating, but have ample studying/work tables and couches in a cozy and creative atmosphere.
Since 2013, under the name The Bees Knees Kitchen, we have been supplying Charlottesville with handmade shortbreads, bake-at-home cookie dough, celebratory layer cakes, and dessert tables. And long before The Bees Knees' existence, we have been supplying Central Virginia with sustainably farmed agriculture. Combining our love of nourishing the land, and our love of nourishing food, we bake delicious treats with our own honey, eggs, fruits, and herbs grown at our home in Orange, Va. As for the rest of our ingredients, we gather the best of what's around with a keen focus on organic and small batch standards.
